SMC Serves Notice to MMIC Rambhajan Mahato's Building in Illegal Construction Drive Siliguri: The Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) has intensified its crackdown on alleged illegal constructions across the city. A notice has been served to an under-construction building linked to Ward No. 3 councillor and MMIC Rambhajan Mahato over alleged building rule violations. SMC officials said more than 24 structures have been identified during the ongoing inspection drive. Mahato has denied the allegations, claiming the construction has all necessary approvals. Administrative hearings are currently underway.
