CM Suvendu Adhikari Strengthens Uttarkanya’s Role During First Official Visit to North Bengal Secretariat

Siliguri, May 20: Suvendu Adhikari today visited Uttarkanya for the first time after assuming office as Chief Minister and announced a major push to empower the North Bengal secretariat with full administrative authority. During the visit, the Chief Minister stated that Uttarkanya would no longer remain merely a symbolic administrative building, but would function as a fully operational secretariat capable of addressing key issues concerning the entire North Bengal region directly from Siliguri. CM Suvendu Adhikari said that Uttarkanya would be granted full powers to improve governance, speed up administrative coordination, and ensure better delivery of public services across North Bengal. He also announced that he would visit North Bengal every month to personally review developmental projects and administrative work in the region. The Chief Minister emphasized that the move aims to strengthen “ease of living” and “ease of doing business” for the people of North Bengal by decentralising governance and improving accessibility to government services. The visit was attended by Raju Bista, Nisith Pramanik and Shankar Ghosh, along with senior administrative officials and party leaders. Leaders present during the meeting welcomed the Chief Minister’s vision for North Bengal and thanked him for prioritising the welfare and development of the region.
