ECI Doubles Central Forces, Introduces Triple-Camera Webcasting Across All Booths Kolkata, May 20: Security and surveillance arrangements have been significantly intensified ahead of the crucial repoll in West Bengal’s Falta Assembly constituency scheduled for Thursday, May 21. The Election Commission of India (ECI), acting after serious allegations of EVM tampering, booth disruption, and large-scale sabotage during the April 29 polling, has transformed the constituency into a high-security electoral zone. Central Forces Deployment Doubled To ensure free, fair, and peaceful voting, the deployment of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) has been doubled across the constituency. Security personnel will conduct intensive area domination, route marches, naka checking, and booth monitoring to prevent any attempt at intimidation or booth jamming. According to officials, special emphasis has been placed on vulnerable and sensitive polling stations following reports of violence and electoral malpractice during the earlier phase of polling. Triple-Camera Webcasting Introduced In a first-of-its-kind surveillance arrangement for the constituency, the ECI has introduced triple-camera webcasting at all 285 polling booths. The enhanced monitoring system is aimed at ensuring complete transparency and real-time observation of polling activities. Election authorities stated that every booth will remain under constant digital surveillance throughout the voting process, allowing immediate intervention in case of any irregularity. Repoll Ordered After Historic Countermanding The May 21 repoll follows the unprecedented countermanding of the April 29 election in Falta after allegations of EVM sabotage and disruptions surfaced from multiple polling locations. The Election Commission had taken serious note of the complaints and ordered fresh polling under stricter supervision. Authorities have appealed to voters to participate fearlessly and assured that all necessary arrangements are in place to maintain law and order during the electoral exercise.
